Summary
The scene starts with the conversation between Desdemona, Cassio, and Emilia. During those Desdemona promises to Cassio that she will convince Othello to grant Cassio's position in military back asap. Cassio was so grateful, and Desdemona emphasizes that she'll do everything, she even said: "Thy solicitor shall rather die/ Than give thy cause away."At this instance, Cassio sees Othello is coming, so he decides to leave. Desdemona asks him to stay, but Cassio says it is going to be weird and embrace for the meeting, So he hurries run out.  We believe that’s because he’s still feeling guilty about what he has down. But Iago also saw that. For him, that’s a great chance to rise Othello’s doubt against Desdemona, thus, Iago says it was so wired that Cassio runs away so quickly, he was like a thief running away after a stealing something in the night. And of course at the same time himself dined that to avoid the suspicion. Desdemona jumps right into sweet-talking Othello and She claims that Cassio is really a good man, and suggests Othello grant Cassio back to his position. Othello says "not now," but Desdemona was so persisted, she says "well, maybe tomorrow, or Tuesday morning, or Tuesday night, or Wednesday morning, or how about Wednesday night?" When Othello keeps wanting to stop this topic, Desdemona claims she would never deny him anything, But this is definitely good for him so he would better listen to her for this one. Othello responds that he will not l deny her anything, but in the meantime, he wants to be alone and asks Desdemona to leave.

Personal reaction about themes in this scene
Independent is one the most important theme of this chapter. Desdemona, who has shown independence resisting her father's anger in ACT SCENE1, here again, shows the independence by the persistence of what she stand which against his husband  Othello’s.

Suspicion
Thou Desdemona's persistence and independence can reflect her good personality in our audience’s view. But in Othello’s View, that’s another thing. Under the misleading from Iago,   Desdemona's unusual perform makes her look very suspicious in Othello’s view. And that will lead Othello to doubt her royal to the love.

hypocrisy
In this scene, Iago continues to strive to produce the effects of his fake honesty. His words and movements are carefully calculated to inspire the suspicion.  He successfully managed to plant a seed of doubt in another person's mind while making himself look innocent by airing his suspicions and then arguing that it can't be true.

Questions:
How are Desdemona’s words in lines 31-32 ironic?
Desdemona thinks that Othello is a humor man, he would not be easily jealous about a handkerchief lost. However, she does not know the importance of this handkerchief, the loss of it will cause Othello’s suspicions against her loyalty and furthermore leads to his jealous about her and Cassio.

Why must Iago take his time to convince Othello about Desdemona and Cassio?
Iago knows that once he successfully convicted Othello that Desdemona and Cassio has an impure relationship, his personality would not allow any betrayer alive. Meanwhile,  Once the fact that  Othello is the murderer found by someone, he’ll lose all his reputations and the position in the army. At that time, as the second commander in the army, he will be the new general and done the revenge to Othello for his injustice.

Explain the importance of Desdemona’s handkerchief (to the play).
The handkerchief was symbolizing the trust from Othello to Desdemona, after Iago’s manipulation, the seed of an idea which is “Desdemona was cheating” was planted in Othello’s mind. In addition. Iago tell Othello that he had seen Cassio was taking that handkerchief and  his mother has told him that it is magical  So once he find that

Of what significance is the handkerchief to Othello (the character, not the play)? What new insight does this give to his character? Is this surprising to you?
I think the main significance for Othello is the fact that the handkerchief is magical because it can indicate the royalty of the owner of that handkerchief. The new insight that Othello gives me is his superstition and his dedication to loyalty. To be honestly I'm not surprised by that because Othello looks like a very serious and stubborn person, he's not the kind of people who would easily give up a mind once it is reliable.

What role does Emilia play in Iago’s plot?  Explain specifically.

Emilia's one dishonest act towards Desdemona is stealing her special handkerchief and give it to Iago. That is the most important item for Iago’s plan because the loss of the handkerchief is what convinces Othello that Desdemona is guilty of infidelity. Thus, as a person who totally unaware anything, Emilia inadvertently helps Iago to accomplish his evil plan.
